Join us on Saturday 23rd August for a full-day adventure in the Lake District, tackling the iconic Fairfield Horseshoe—an 18km ridge walk with big views, big peaks, and a proper sense of mountain magic. Starting in the charming town of Ambleside, this circular route bags eight Wainwrights, follows a dry-stone wall for miles, and ends with a secret waterfall. Basically, it's the ultimate Lakeland loop.
If you love a mountain day that feels like a journey—ridgelines, summits, hidden gems, and the odd “ooooh” moment—this one’s for you.

It’s the perfect weekend combo: one big mountain adventure followed by a shorter scenic hike, leaving plenty of time for lakeside lounging, coffee sipping, or pub hopping in between.
I’ll be staying at the YHA Ambleside — a friendly, budget-friendly hostel right on the lake — and you’re welcome to join me there for cheap, cheerful accommodation. There are also plenty of cosy B&Bs, guesthouses, and hotels in town if you fancy a little extra comfort.
Book both walks, make a weekend of it, and turn late August into your own mini Lake District escape.
